In this 4th podcast, Dr. Merlin Thompson and I chatted about how to help students and US (yes, teachers need self care!) to cope with disappointment, or sometimes, "messiness" in music learning. We also exchanged our experiences about helping our Introvert students feel comfortable. This episode ends with a discussion about the pressure to Ask or Not to Ask Questions in a lesson setting.

This time we chatted about the reasons and benefits of incorporating storytelling in our teaching.

Dr. Merlin Thompson and I discussed how teachers can practice to see what is already in a student's playing and start a lesson from that point of view instead of jumping in the "fix-it-all" mode.

We all know every child learns differently. That is the beauty of giving music lessons. I always feel privileged to be able to have an opportunity to communicate with children through music learning one-on-one. I just love sharing ideas and challenging their brains with cello. But how do we tailor reasonable expectations for each individual student? I hope you will find this podcast useful talking about that!
